The Center for Economic and Policy Studies offers research and tools to local, state, and federal decisionmakers to help them create informed policies and address society's most pressing needs and problems. Our major areas of work include economic data analyses and reports, the Energy Transition Initiative, and the Flood Resilience Initiative.


Economic Data and Analyses

Economic and Policy Studies conducts economic development work at the local and regional level from economic impact analysis to feasibility projects to studies that address economic policy issues.

Energy Transition Initiative

The Energy Transition Initiative (ETI) conducts high quality research to inform policy and decision-making and provides research-based resources, tools, and guidance on energy alternatives and approaches, including solar, for Virginia localities.
Hillside and Lake

Flood Resilience Initiative

A team of researchers and students helping Virginia's rural communities and Planning District Commissions build their capacity for developing effective flood management plans.
