Emily O'Quinn's Biography

Emily O’Quinn is Senior Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications for Alpha Metallurgical Resources (NYSE: AMR), the largest U.S. producer of metallurgical coal for the steel industry.  In her role, Emily leads the company’s public affairs efforts with responsibility for investor relations, government relations, communications, and corporate affairs. 

With experience in both private and public companies, Emily has communications experience in a variety of business transactions including mergers, divestitures, an initial public offering, a Chapter 11 bankruptcy restructuring, and the launch of a new company.  Over the course of her career, Emily also has been responsible for crisis management, strategic messaging and advocacy campaigns, corporate philanthropy, media relations, annual reporting, and management of political action committees.  

In addition to her corporate background, Emily is engaged in the community and volunteers her time with organizations to help expand educational opportunities for children and increase access to the arts.  She is currently President of the Board of Trustees for Barter Theatre, the State Theatre of Virginia. 

Emily has served on a number of regional and local non-profit boards of directors, and she is a past gubernatorial appointee to both the Library of Virginia Board and the Southwest Virginia Cultural Heritage Foundation Board of Trustees.  
Emily holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from King College in Tennessee.  She is also a graduate of the Women in Governance Executive Education program through UCLA’s Anderson School of Management.
