Overall, 12% of Virginia's population was 65 and older in 2007. In Lancaster
County, located in the Northern Neck of Virginia, 31% of the population
was 65 and older.
- Greensville County had the highest proportion of males at 63% and Williamsburg had the highest proportion of females at 56%.
- Four counties and 8
cities were "majority-minority" meaning the population had more than 50
percent minority residents. The minority population is defined as
anyone who indicated that they were either Hispanic or a race other
than white alone.
