Intern Application Process
Take 5 Easy Steps to Become a University Intern
Step 1
Consult the Online UIP Internship Listing which describes over 300 internship opportunities in the Charlottesville area: http://virginia.edu/uip. You can browse through an alphabetical listing of all sponsoring organizations in the Charlottesville area or search for specific internships by keyword or organization name.
Step 2
Attend a UIP Information Session on one of the following dates: Monday, Feb. 4 5:30-6:30 p.m. Location: Clemons 201 Tuesday, Feb. 5 5:30-6:30 p.m. Location: Clemons 201 Wednesday, Feb. 6 5:30-6:30 p.m. Location: Clemons 201 Thursday, Feb. 7 5:30-6:30 p.m. Location: Clemons 201
Step 3
Decide which UIP option is best for you. You can choose to do a summer internship and an academic year internship.
• Academic Year Internship Program in Charlottesville (Fall & Spring Semesters) •Summer Internship Program in Charlottesville (Summer Session) •Extended Summer Internship Program in Charlottesville (Summer Session & Fall Semester) •To-Go Summer Internship Program in Washington, D. C. (Summer Session) •To-Go Summer Internship Program Abroad in Paris, France (Special Summer Session) - Program Begins Summer 2009. •To-Go Summer Internship Program Abroad in Dublin, Ireland (Special Summer Session) •To-Go Summer Internship Program Elsewhere (Summer Session)
Step 4
Complete an online application: http://virginia.edu/uip APPLICATION PERIOD: Friday, February 11 - Friday, February 29, 2008 by 5 p.m.
Step 5
Schedule a matching interview between Wednesday, February 13, 2008 and Friday, March 14, 2008 using the online UIP interview scheduler. Your interview will be held at the UIP Offices, Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service, 2400 Old Ivy Road.
Priority
consideration for internship preferences will be given to applicants
for academic year internships who submit their applications and
complete their preliminary interviews with a UIP staff member before
February 22, 2008.
