Leisa R. Steele
Leisa’s key responsibilities fall into two distinct areas. As conference and member services coordinator for the Local Government Attorneys of Virginia, Inc. (LGA), she plans and coordinates the association’s statewide conferences; regional seminars; and board of directors meetings and retreats. She is also responsible for the LGA’s web site, listserv, and database. As fiscal technician for the Cooper Center’s Richmond Office, Leisa is involved with procurement, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
Leisa joined the Cooper Center in January of 2000 as the executive assistant to the director of the Commission on Virginia’s State and Local Tax Structure for the 21st Century. Her prior experience in the private sector includes personnel staffing and business development.
An active member of the Virginia Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (VAMPI), Leisa is a winner of the VAMPI journalism award and has had several articles published in the VAMPI Voice, their monthly newsletter. She is a cum laude graduate of Winthrop University, where she received her BA in communication with a minor in art history. A native of Atlanta, Leisa has lived in Richmond since 1994.
