The current U.S. House of Representatives FY2012 budget proposal for the Bureau of the Census would jeopardize the 2012 Economic Census, a detailed survey of U.S. businesses that occurs every five years. At a September 26 briefing organized by the American Economic Association, Bill Shobe spoke about the importance of the Economic Census for state and local governments.
