Rebecca Tippett performs research and analysis for the Demographics & Workforce Group at the University of Virginia Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service. She uses demographic methods and other quantitative approaches to understand patterns of stratification and inequality. Rebecca’s current work focuses on household economic well-being, with specific attention to indebtedness.

She earned her B.A. in Sociology and Political Science from The Ohio State University in 2004. She earned her M.A. (2006) and Ph.D. (2010) in Sociology from Duke University. While at Duke, Rebecca taught courses on both family change and statistics and served as an Athletic Department tutor for theory and research methods. She received advanced training in multilevel modeling, latent class analysis, and the use of longitudinal data. Her research was supported by funding from the Social Science Research Council and a pre-doctoral fellowship through the National Institute on Aging.
