Public High School Graduates Projection Methodology

Projections of the number of public high school graduates are based on the historic relationship between student enrollment and the corresponding number of graduates. At the state level large numbers of students provide a solid basis for making 10-year projections. Many of the state's school divisions, however, are small, and consequently show more annual variability in the number of graduates. Because of this increased year-to-year variation, division projections are limited to only 5 years. In addition to having a different forecast time horizon, there are several minor methodological differences between the state and school division projections.
